From the City Council of Ronda, the program of activities that will be launched throughout the month of March on the occasion of International Women’s Day has already been closed. The events will start on Monday, March 3 with the celebration of a Equality Commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), which will host public representatives from all over Spain in the city of Ronda for a day of work and advocacy.
In this way, the events will start on Monday, March 3 with an important meeting that will last all morning in Ronda and will be attended by representatives from municipalities across the country. It will begin with an institutional event and a meeting where the update of the State Pact on Gender Violence will have special prominence.
On Thursday, March 6, the Empowerment for Self-Defense training will be held, an event that women can register for through the Women’s Information Center and where self-defense techniques will be learned. These sessions will be repeated on several days of this month, specifically on the 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, and 25th.
On Friday, March 7, the institutional event for International Women’s Day will take place at the Convent of Santo Domingo starting at 12:00 p.m. During the event, the manifesto (institutionally approved in full) will be read, recognitions will be given to four associations in the city (RondaFEM AFAMMER, the Socio-Cultural Association for the Integration of Women in Ronda, and Female Objective). New agreements of adhesion to the Violet Network will also be signed, a pioneering work line in Spain with entrepreneurs from Ronda that is increasingly adding more collaborating establishments.
On Wednesday, March 12, the theatrical play ‘A Cry from the Darkness’ will be performed at the Vicente Espinel Theater at 8:30 p.m. Invitations for this advocacy event can be picked up at the Women’s Center.
To close the programming of March 8th, on Thursday, March 20th, a training day on Consent and sexual education will be held by educator Laura Roqueta. The event is aimed at high school and vocational training students. On the same day, but in the afternoon, the workshop ‘Deconstructing the Culture of Rape’ will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Women’s Center.
