The President of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, attended the opening of the exhibition by the painter Elena Montero in Seville, where he expressed that Seville and Andalusia cannot be understood without art and culture, which he described as the «fertilizer upon which the Andalusian community has grown and flourished over the centuries.»
Moreno highlighted the enthusiasm, initiative, style, and passion of Elena Montero, as well as the beauty of her works that cover various themes ranging from images of great devotion such as La Macarena, El Cachorro, La Estrella, Las Glorias, or the Virgin of the Kings to flamenco or the procession of the Three Wise Men at the Ateneo.
He emphasized that this artist does not limit herself to the classic formats of painting, but takes advantage of all possibilities to unleash her talent through covers, book illustrations, or Christmas cards, among others.
«It’s a delightful way to truly be present in the daily lives of people, of the city. Taking the initiative, speaking to Seville, and always doing it with the language of art and beauty, which are always so important.»
In this way, he noted that this exhibition will remain at the Seville City Hall, where the history, the function of the building, and its monumental character add solemnity to this meeting between the public and the artworks.
At this point, he emphasized the support of the Andalusian Government for the artistic expression of Andalusia and the work of Andalusian creators, while also thanking all the entities that sponsor painting, sculpture, music, literature, and all the forms in which Andalusian genius takes the initiative and showcases its work to the world, from foundations to brotherhoods, and from public to private institutions.
The event also counted with the presence of the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz.
