The education of young people in Vélez-Málaga has become a tangential element in the work of the Youth Department of the Velez City Council, which emphasizes the development of various policies, initiatives, and events aimed at the necessary education of the younger citizens of the locality. In this case, in collaboration with the Andalusian Youth Institute (IAJ), the local government, through the corresponding municipal area, has scheduled an informative and clearly informative workshop titled «Pornography, Adolescence, and Masculinities,» a talk aimed at adolescents aged 16 and over, parents, teachers, and all those who have young people in their care or around them. The talk will be given by psychologist, sexologist, and therapist Borja Rodríguez Núñez, and will take place on Wednesday, April 23, starting at 5:00 PM, at the center for the study of the exile of María Zambrano, located in Beniel square. The session, with a formative and cognitive nature, aims to educate and energize the knowledge of adults and young people on a highly controversial aspect of human nature, which, as Youth Councilor Lourdes Piña has pointed out, «requires these types of initiatives to promote the knowledge of tools and resources that can help us understand more precisely a sociocultural segment that has become indispensable for the evolution of minors towards sexual and emotional maturity.»

Addressing this topic from a technical perspective will mean a more measured approach by workshop attendees, ranging from 16 years and older.
School of Families
The activity to be held on April 23 is part of the program promoted by the Andalusian Youth Institute (IAJ) called «School of Families,» carried out by the body belonging to the Andalusian Government that brings the school and the processes of education and learning closer to the family environment. For years, strategies have been developed in Andalusia that promote the participation of families and other social agents in educational centers, for example, by supporting parent associations, encouraging involvement in school councils, fostering the signing of educational and coexistence agreements, as well as with other forms of more direct participation in classrooms, such as parent delegates and learning communities. This comprehensive project in the youth sector is joined by other initiatives such as the Educajoven plan, which has been carried out in Velez institutes in essential areas for the growth of young people such as physical activity and health, leisure and free time, entrepreneurship and social skills, sexuality, equality, and diversity.
The roadmap outlined by the Youth Department of the Velez City Council runs in clear parallel with the policies of the Andalusian Youth Institute (IAJ), as indicated by the coordinator, Alba Ortiz, who positively values the commitment in Vélez-Málaga to «conducting workshops on current knowledge areas such as pornography in adolescence and concepts such as toxic love or masculinity.» Likewise, she has expressed satisfaction that the municipality is a pioneer in «promoting new values and knowledge in young people, in view of the new times.»
The axis of action of the Youth Department, with initiatives such as the one at hand, the workshop on pornography and masculinities by Borja Rodríguez, covers a widely diversified thematic spectrum. Charlas and presentations on physical activity and healthy living, education in values, teachings on addiction prevention, promoting culture, and all kinds of activities around the acquisition of social skills or alternative leisure camps regularly take place in the secondary education centers of our locality. These dynamic proposals address realities as crucial in shaping young people and future adults as teamwork, time management in a productive way, communication and intrapersonal skills, conflict resolution, creativity, and emotional intelligence, among others.
