The activity is aimed at children aged 6 to 14, although on July 8 and 22, children as young as 3 can also participate, with age-appropriate recipes that they can take home.
Torre del Mar is looking for the new cooking masters among the young people of the municipality. That is why the ‘Cocina Kids’ activity has been scheduled for every Tuesday in July, bringing together children aged between 6 and 14 at the Templete de la Música on the Torre del Mar seafront, giving them free rein to showcase their creativity in cooking, always using products from our region.
Pérez Atencia highlighted, «From the Deputy Mayor’s Office of Torre del Mar, we are pleased to announce a new activity specially designed for the youngest members of the household. Throughout July, we will be holding a series of children’s cooking workshops in a very special setting: the Templete de la Música.»
Atencia explained, «These workshops will take place every Tuesday in July at 8:00 p.m., and are designed for children from the municipality and visitors to learn simple and fun recipes using local products, promoting knowledge of our local gastronomy from an early age.»
The activity is aimed at children aged 6 to 14, «but we also want to offer the experience to the younger ones, so on July 8 and 22, children as young as 3 can also participate, with recipes adapted to their age that they can take home,» the councilor informed.
To participate, registrations will be done in person at Sabores Torre del Mar, in the Municipal Market, starting from June 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each person can register a maximum of four children.
Atencia concluded by inviting «everyone to participate in this educational, fun, and very tasty experience.»
The Torreño chef, Roberto Soler, stated, «We want the children of the municipality and those visiting during the summer to learn to appreciate our cuisine, our products, and our traditions, all in a fun and participatory way.»
The workshops, scheduled for July 1, 8, 10, 15, 22, and 29, will start at 8:00 p.m. and will last between one hour and an hour and fifteen minutes. They are designed for ages between 6 and 14, although on specific dates, July 8 and 22, they will also be open to children as young as 3, preparing simple and adapted recipes so that the youngest ones can also take their creations home.
«Sabores Torre del Mar has been conducting workshops throughout Andalucía for over 11 years, but this year will be very special as we leave our mark here, at home, with the youngest ones as protagonists,» affirmed the chef.
Registrations will be done in person at Sabores Torre del Mar, in the municipal market, in the morning. Each workshop will have 36 available spots, and if any are left, the capacity can be filled just before the activity starts, directly at the Templete.
«If there’s anything we love more than cooking, it’s teaching how to cook, especially to children, because with them, we sow the future of respect for products, territory, and culinary culture,» Soler assured. «We look forward to seeing you all this summer with your hands in the dough and eager to have a good time.»
