The Mediterranean Park will host tomorrow, Sunday, June 29, the I Torneo Medimar de Voley Playa, an initiative promoted by the City Council in collaboration with the local club of this discipline. The competition will bring together more than 150 participants, distributed in three categories and with free entry. The councilor of the sector, Lisandro Vieytes, has presented the event together with the president of the organizing entity, Rodrigo Ruiz, and has highlighted «the commitment of the City Council to continue promoting this sports modality, both by attracting national championships and developing local projects.»
Vieytes has emphasized that «the Mediterranean Park offers first-class facilities, highly valued inside and outside the city, and will be the ideal setting for Marbella to continue advancing as a reference in beach volleyball, not only in event organization but also in grassroots development.» In this sense, he encouraged residents to visit the public space, as «this type of tournaments help strengthen our sports base, with a view to having local representatives in competitions such as the Copa del Rey or the Copa de la Reina in the future.»
On the other hand, Ruiz has detailed that the tournament includes several categories, ranging from male and female gold, for advanced and semi-professional level players, to silver, designed for players in initiation, including students and families. «The goal is for everyone to enjoy a day of sports and coexistence in an unbeatable space,» noted the organizer, who thanked the City Council’s support and pointed out that «we expect participants not only from Marbella but also from other locations such as Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Malaga, Ojén, Cadiz, Granada, or Almeria.» He also explained that a total of 15 courts will be set up, allowing all matches to be played simultaneously from early morning.
