The initiative will have a fixed information point until Wednesday in Plaza de Las Carmelitas in Vélez-Málaga and during Thursday and Friday in Paseo de Torre del Mar, between 9:00 and 14:00. Experts will teach them, providing QR access to guides, tips, and interactive games.
The municipality of Vélez-Málaga will become a reference in waste recycling awareness in the following days with the arrival of a campaign orchestrated by the provincial consortium of solid urban waste in Malaga (CRSU) promoting proper waste management and separation in the city.
The initiative has already been developed from Monday the 27th and will continue until tomorrow the 29th of January, with the location in a tent at Plaza de Las Carmelitas, open to the public between 9:00 and 14:00 and available to anyone interested in learning more about caring for our environment. There will also be a delegation in Paseo de Larios in Torre del Mar, on Thursday and Friday, January 30th and 31st.
Mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Jesús Lupiáñez, visiting the campaign today, emphasized the importance of this type of initiative in serving the «awareness and consciousness» of all residents and visitors to «provide our city with the best conditions for cleanliness and respect for the environment.»The local councilor was accompanied at the fixed information point by the director of prosambes, Alberto Jiménez Madrid, an environmental strategic consultant responsible for the discussions and other organized actions.
Lupio also considered essential that, along with the work carried out by municipal operational services, «we must always appreciate,» it is necessary for «everyone to participate in order to contribute to a city in perfect conditions.» «We need to raise awareness about a problem that is still essential,» he said, evaluating this action in the «necessary environmental education» of the population towards their surroundings.
Discussions and Interactive Games
Regarding the content of the campaign, two environmental monitors will be available to residents and visitors to provide useful and practical information on selective waste separation. These will be carried out during information discussions on this topic and the positive impact of this practice and material disposal with guides and tips through QR codes will be available via mobile devices.
In the same vein, interactive games will be developed, such as waste separation roulette and 3R, or during the separation of common materials. Alongside the fixed information point, at the mentioned locations, a mobile unit will travel near immediate individuals to reach more people and promote active citizen participation.
