Torre del Mar presented the XVII edition of the ‘Pincel de Oro’ children’s painting contest on Tuesday morning; a event that tests the creativity and artistic skills of the youngest, and is now open for registration for the collection of artworks.
The event was introduced on Tuesday morning by the Deputy Mayor of Vélez-Málaga and Deputy Mayor of Torre del Mar, Jesús Pérez Atencia; and María Teresa Pombo, the event organizer.
In this regard, the councilor highlighted that «we are calling this press conference to inform about the celebration of the seventeenth edition of the ‘Pincel de Oro’ painting contest, which opens the reception period for those interested in participating.»
Atencia mentioned, «this is a cultural event that continues to grow, aiming to promote the creativity of our children. Registration officially opens today, Tuesday, April 22 and will be available until Friday, May 13.»

Atencia expressed his gratitude, saying «I want to thank the nearly twenty businesses in the municipality that have gotten involved because without their support, this wouldn’t be possible. From the Tenencia de Alcaldía, I want to invite children interested in painting from our municipality and the entire region to participate and unleash their creativity.»
María Teresa Pombo, the event organizer, mentioned that «eight first prizes will be awarded, distributed in different age categories — children, youth, among others — based on the jury’s criteria, composed of artists and professionals of recognized prestige in the field of plastic arts, such as painters and sculptors. Their task will be to assess the works based on artistic and originality criteria.»
Children who wish to participate can directly submit their works at the Tenencia de Alcaldía de Torre del Mar. The organization has reminded that framed works with glass, cardboard, or other materials not allowed according to the general rules of the contest will not be accepted.
In addition to the main awards, «all participants will receive a diploma, a small gift, and a snack, as a recognition of their effort and involvement. The event is conceived as a true art celebration, promoting not only talent but also coexistence and enthusiasm for artistic expression from an early age,» she added.
«We want to encourage all families to participate and enjoy this special day. Art is a wonderful tool to educate, unite, and excite,» stated Pombo, thanking everyone who makes the contest’s development possible.
