The Municipal Corporation approved the naming of the church enclave in recognition of Miguel Vida Palomo’s dedication to various activities and events in Almayate. This initiative, proposed by Mayor Jesús Lupiáñez, was institutionalized.
Miguel Vida Palomo has selflessly contributed to the community for decades, being a pioneer in organizing events like pilgrimages, ceremonies, and carnivals.
The city council of Vélez-Málaga passed a motion to name the church plaza in Almayate after «Miguel Vida Palomo,» a distinguished resident who dedicated his life to the community.
Miguel Vida Palomo was born on October 9, 1948, in Riogordo, Axarquía. His professional journey began in an electrical workshop in Málaga, where he met Maribel, who later became his wife. They moved to Marbella, where Miguel started a successful business, Electric Life, which is now run by his son Emilio José. The couple had three children, reflecting Miguel’s strong ties to Almayate.
Throughout the years, Miguel actively participated in various community events and was involved in founding several local traditions. His commitment to the community was unwavering, as he engaged in activities like the live nativity scene, religious processions, fairs, and sports events.
One of Miguel’s significant contributions was to the local church, where he played a crucial role in its construction and maintenance. His dedication was recognized in 2023 when he received the Proclesia de la Medalla Malacitana from Bishop Jesús Catalá for his generosity and service.
Currently, Miguel holds leadership positions in several Almayate institutions, such as the Brotherhood of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Association of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. His family supports him in these roles, highlighting the deep connection Miguel has with the community.
The decision to name the church plaza after Miguel Vida Palomo is a fitting tribute to his lifelong commitment and service to the people of Almayate.
